Thaw sets in, temperatures up to 12c

Department calls to announce that we have been selected for a spot check (all ear nos to be read-500 in our case). This is quite disastrous so soon after the TB test and with cows only 2 months from calving. How many calves will break horns going through the race?- the officials do not care. I will go to Brussels in the spring to complain but there is really no point farming if this nonsense cannot be stopped

Identification inspection, which took 4 days inspecting the animals and another 2 days doing paperwork !!

Young cow died - Nothing found by the vet except she had a fluke count of 3 which is significant. Our area has not had a fluke problem historically but the problem has been moving East with the weather becoming warmer and wetter.
Only solution of to inject all cattle, which would mean yet another handling !!
