March 2005

March 1	Snow thaws slowly but farm tracks very icy so we cannot move the cows to the calving fields
March 7	1st calf (AA from Shox Cow)
March 8-10	Finally managed to bring all cows off the hill down to the calving fields Extremely wet everywhere will dreadful poaching of grass
March 12	Biggest calving day so far with 8 born: (6 x AAX, 1 x HL & 1 x SHOX)
March 13	Gillsrow Corrie had trwin male calves
March 22	10 calves today (5 x AAX, 3 x SHOX & 2 x HL)
March 25	Put Fergus out with 14 HL heifers (mostly Brogach daughters) All 2 YO heifers Dectomaxed & given copper
March 30	We now have 80% of AAX calves, Highlanders still slow
